Today from the main virtual stage at Summit 2020, we announced a number of product innovations. I’m excited about these enhancements and proud of the team that has built them. Here is a summary of our product announcements and what they mean for you, our users (and potential users!).
Artificial intelligence (AI) and machine learning are all over the news and media today. Even in non-technical media, I hear about and see AI. My parents have even asked me about it! Today we’re announcing Automated Insights, which allows our users to explore data and give users a faster and easier way to discover insights in their data using AI.
Automated Insights will be in the WebFOCUS 8207.13 release, which will be available in two weeks. These are all available in Designer with the click of the new “Insights” button.
So what are the Insights? Let me give you a couple of examples:
- Correlations: Detect cases where multiple measures show a similar trend or pattern to explain signals and trends in the data
- Outliers: Identify unusual patterns in data; there are multiple types of outliers based on the count of categories (Dominants) and the average function for measures against dimensions
- Time-based: Analyze business data over time to identify consistent and inconsistent patterns in noisy data.
If you like your Insights, you can add them to existing portals and dashboards to share them with other users.
ibi prides ourselves on being open, not only as individuals and as an organization, but also with our products. Openness makes our customers integrate with other tools and applications, whether homegrown or third-party. That’s why we are so enthusiastic about ibi Open Visualizations, a new offering that opens up possibilities for our customers.
For example: Are you juggling different and inconsistent instances of business intelligence (BI) and visualization tools across the organization? Do you struggle to connect these tools natively to your enterprise data source, or worse, resort to creating standalone data marts or files? ibi Open Visualizations connects other third-party visualization tools (you know the ones I’m talking about) to any data source, file format, API, and application in a curated, secure, real-time, and trusted manner. It’s a floor wax, it’s a dessert topping.
This single connection is through the ibi Open Data Platform (what you know today as the WebFOCUS Reporting Server), so this is how you get all of the capabilities and benefits outlined above.
Omni-HealthData Cloud Essentials
We’re thrilled to advance our healthcare solutions with a new offering – Omni-HealthData Cloud Essentials. This enterprise-class data and analytics solution enables mid-market healthcare providers to successfully adapt to the shift towards value-based care. It leverages patient data that lies untapped within their organizations. This is a new SaaS, managed-services offering that allows organizations to start small and grow. Expect to see more Essentials offerings from ibi in the coming months.
Data Governance and ASG Partnership
Finally, but certainly not least is our integration with ASG Technologies, specifically ASG Data Intelligence™, integrating with ibi’s data and analytics products for monitoring the quality of the data that represents key business metrics and data lineage both supporting data governance initiatives.
Let’s get into some specifics.
Organizations identify key business metrics which are tied to data. You want to measure the quality of the data for these key business metrics. These data quality measures can have multiple dimensions, such as completeness, accuracy, consistency, etc. These measures are documented in ASG Data Intelligence and the technical measurement is performed weekly, monthly, etc. in Omni-Gen, with the results passed back to ASG to provide a data quality dashboard so you can see how the quality of these key business metrics is trending.
The second integration point is to provide data lineage – see where a field came from, such as which database table, and how it was changed (transformed) along the way. This applies to both Omni-Gen products and WebFOCUS reports. Imagine being able to see the source of a field and how it was transformed in your report!
This is a quick summary and we’ll be proving more details over the coming days and weeks, so stay tuned. Those of you attending ibi’s Summit, enjoy the virtual conference.
