About

It’s time for another FOCUS® Friday and this month we will be looking at administrative variables in the Maintain world. We will also dive into the DEFINE language and explore the tips and techniques available for re-defining fields in the FOCUS/WebFOCUS landscape. Finally we will look at the other join technology available to you - the MATCH command. We look forward to seeing you there!

Administrative Variables

A number of variables are available to the Maintain application developer. Want to know the name of the User? Need to know the name of the server? We will review the list of keywords available and how to pass in custom variables with SITE.WFS.

Redefining Fields

On occasion you may have a need to represent a value in multiple ways (like summarizing at different sort levels). This session will show you best practices to use so you get the results you want.

MATCH - the Other JOIN

MATCH is a powerful FOCUS sublanguage for connecting data from multiple files by specifying not only the data elements to connect but also the combination of the data sources. Join us as we explore the power of this command and how you can use it to generate the combined data structures you need for additional reporting.

It’s all going to happen on Friday, October 20, 2023 and we want you to join us.
