Colorado State University Selects ibi to Create First Central Analytics Platform
ibi’s WebFOCUS Selected to Create Consistency in Financial and Student Data
New York, NY
Information Builders (ibi), a leader in business intelligence (BI), analytics, and data management solutions, has announced that Colorado State University (CSU), a state institution located in Fort Collins, Colorado with more than 33,000 students and 2,000 faculty and staff, has selected ibi as its centrally supported BI and reporting platform. CSU’s Information Systems unit is working with ibi to create the university’s first central analytics platform to be rolled out to campus over the next few months.
After evaluating multiple vendors, CSU selected the WebFOCUS BI and analytics platform for its modern user interface and ease of use, flexibility in deployment strategies, and its capability to produce advanced visualizations and dashboards. The solution provides highly interactive reports, allowing users to drill down and select their preferred level of detailed information. CSU chose a cloud deployment with fully managed hosted services by ibi.
With more than 15,000 reports throughout the University Community, the Information Systems Unit will be working with end users to consolidate these reports into less than 100 InfoAppsTM on the WebFOCUS platform. InfoApps deliver real-time data and insights to non-technical users in their business context, helping them take action for maximum impact. Following the implementation, CSU’s institutional research department will be working towards publishing externally facing analytics via fact books and ibi’s advanced dashboards.
ibi will provide formal classroom training to a group of power users selected by CSU’s Information Systems, representing each of the University’s eight colleges and administrative units. These power users will be tasked with supporting others in their departments and organizing training through on-campus resources, which will be required to have access to the tool. CSU’s Technology Training Center will offer classes to the campus community, beginning in late April.
Bob Engmark, director of Information Systems and chief data administrator, Colorado State University, said:
“Another reason we selected WebFOCUS as the first central analytics platform at CSU was because of ibi’s extensive experience working with education institutions. The vendor’s wealth of knowledge in the industry and past customer success stories made our decision clear. We are looking forward to joining ibi’s higher education ecosystem to solve our data and analytic needs.”
Gerald Cohen, president and CEO, ibi, said:
“ibi has been helping higher education institutions transform information into organizational intelligence and student success for more than 25 years. Our customers have successfully used the WebFOCUS platform to maximize revenues and fundraising, improve student outcomes through predictive analytics, and overall improve operational efficiencies. We’re excited to have Colorado State University join our 200+ higher education customer community and eager to see the success of the University’s first central analytics platform.”
